The Langley Concrete Group announces the intent to construct a new plant facility on Vancouver Island.
Mark Omelaniec, President of The Langley Concrete Group of Companies recently announced the companies plans to construct a new production facility for the Lombard Precast LP operation currently located in Metchosin.
“The Vancouver Island market has been a very good place to do business for our group. We have dedicated customers who appreciate our service, quality and local manufacturing ability. We have a great relationship with engineers, municipalities and our contractors. Our employees deserve the opportunity to have the best we can afford in equipment and facilities in order that we can satisfy the needs of our customers.”
The Langley Concrete Group has been manufacturing concrete products for over sixty years, recently celebrating 50 years of incorporation in 2010. Headquartered in Langley, B.C. the group is owned and operated by the Omelaniec family, the third generation in the precast concrete business.
The new plant location will be in the Cobble Hill area mid Vancouver Island on a 20 acre parcel of land, very close to the Island Highway, providing easy access to both North and Southbound transportation routes.
“We recognize that the Island market has two distinct urban areas with multiple smaller communities that require our products to construct their infrastructure. It has been a plan of ours for many years to expand investment on Vancouver Island, we are proud of our operation and our employees being able to produce a quality product with their current smaller location and older equipment.
It is our intent to expand their production capabilities, become a safer, more efficient operation and aim towards having the highest quality precast products available on Vancouver Island. We feel that moving further up Island will allow us to be more effective in reaching all of our current markets and reduce our shipping costs and carbon footprint.”
Plans for the new facility are underway with the intent of starting construction in the third quarter of 2011 with a completion contemplated in the third or fourth quarter of 2012.
“This is an exciting time for our company. We are dedicated to being the best manufacturer we can be in precast concrete products. This includes safety, quality and service. This new facility will go a long way to meeting goals we have to improve in all those areas and ultimately becoming more cost efficient.”
